Can I skip the Mental Health Crisis Line and get a transfer directly to the Local Mobile Crisis Team?

The Mental Health Crisis Line is the entry to the overall crisis service. Transfers can be requested and the Mental Health Crisis Line personnel will decide on the appropriateness of the transfer. Most often issues can be handled at the Mental Health Crisis Line level so it is important to speak to the trained volunteers first.

Can the Local Mobile Crisis Team transport someone to or from a specific location?

"Mobile" means we come to you as opposed to our Team transporting people from one location to another.

How fast can the Local Mobile Crisis Team be mobilized to come out and see someone in crisis?

The Team can respond within minutes by phone. A face-to-face contact will be prioritized with whatever other crisis the Team may be dealing with. The individual will be given an estimated time of arrival.

I need someone to come out and make sure I take my medication. Can the Team do that?

This will have to be negotiated with the Local Mobile Crisis Team in your area. Any changes in medication would need to be prescribed by a physician.

I am worried about a neighbour. Under what circumstances can the Team go out and check on him/her?

The Team responds to situations where it is perceived that the individual is in crisis due to a mental health problem. In most incidences, the client should be notified that the Local Mobile Crisis Team would be contacting the client by phone prior to visiting. If there were concerns regarding the individual's safety or the safety of others the Team would coordinate with the Police regarding possible interventions.
